Philistone is a 36x48in. mixed media painting on canvas which I made while working on the film “Sweet Girl,” with Jason Momoa. The inspiration behind it is this little story I made about Leonarda Regrets. It was found in her house. She was a philosopher who disappeared along with everyone else when her entire planet was suddenly abandoned for unknown reasons…until now.
The legend in the universe was that, at one time, Leonarda was the only apothecary you could find in all the worlds. She could conjure up the opposite of whatever she saw happening through the use of a single symbol; it was her most exceptional ability…and downfall.
Recently, a group of deep space explorers set out to excavate the air around the disappearance. Within the remnants, one of them plucked from the wind, an unknown particle that was slightly larger than a speck of dust. When they looked at it under a microscope, they saw this painting…and the instructions on the back which read:
If you are finding these instructions, it means that someone confiscated my symbol and mimicked my voice so closely that it made my beautiful world, which I created, do the opposite and disappear. Within this symbol, there is a keyhole, and if you look closely, you can see that my world still exists, it is just quite smaller from your perspective. We are all energy and matter, and we had to go somewhere, as do all things.
Regrettably Lovely,
Leonarda
