Aloha Dames

Aloha Dames is a 36x48in. original painting on canvas which I made while working on the film “Sweet Girl,” with Jason Momoa. The inspiration behind it is this little story I made about a memory from the mind of a wizard.
Long ago, a wizard named Alohahahahahaha for his infectious laugh had visited a place that was called The Big Island on a planet called Earth. Initially, he wound up there because of an operator error who entered the destination location coordinates incorrectly. Alohahahahahahawas spat out into a little town called Pahoa. It was there he met and fell in love with the goddess, Pele. Despite his fellow wizards calling him back to his dimension, he decided to stay and live out a century there. Eventually, Pele, the goddess of fire, erupted and changed the dynamic of the island with all the smoke. The wizard Alohahahahahaha couldn’t laugh anymore and began to be very sad. Pele, feeling responsible, summoned his wizard friends and asked if they could fix his voice. They could, but only if he returned to their dimension. So, with hesitation, Pele used her smoke to teleport him.
Being all by himself back in his dimension and unable to laugh, Alohahahahahaha was bored, so he started painting. Every day he painted, a little of his laugh returned until it was back in its’ entirety. At the bottom of this painting, you will see a key to the map. This key holds a secret spell that once spoken aloud by another wizard, would transport Alohahahahahaha and Pele back together in this paradise. Just as he painted the final stroke of the key, the wizard Dames was passing by and began to read the key aloud. Written by ©Jolene Dames.
