As I am dictating this, I am walking up the donkey path to the studio where I have been working during my artist residency in Skopelos, Greece. The little island in Skopelos is beautiful. And so inspiring. Today it is about 78°F and I’m almost out of breath as I write this.
Every day I’ve had the luxury of making art, mostly experimental, because that is what I wanted to do here. The past few weeks have been filled with some great little nooks and crannies of life.
First, I went to this beautiful monastery and met a monk who is a ceramicist and painter. The monastery was so beautiful. I can’t even begin to tell you about it in the short little post. Here’s a picture.
I met a banker, turned beekeeper, who told us all about bees and showed us honey combs. The symmetry in nature is so amazing. Its ability to form and reform, and cycles always inspires me.
I met another local ceramicist. Making pottery has been in his family for four generations.
I hired a taxi to take me around the island and go to some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen in the world. And I have seen quite a few!
The internet is not very cooperative but it’s been nice to be mostly unplugged. It’s so beautiful here. I am excited to learn more about this island in the little spots with him but I am getting to experience. I am so inspired and grateful to be here.
If you have wanted a painting by me and are following my traveling in Greece, then check this out. For a limited time you can order an original, hand painted art piece by me while I am here in Skopelos, Greece. I leave in two weeks so order it now!
