The Story of Prince…Prince is a 48″x 48″x 2″ hand-painted original from the Chapter One: Dating Warhol series, inspired by the late artist James Patrick Dames.
Prince, as we all know, was a musical legend. Painting this piece was a great challenge, as were my other cubism works of art. I had a great surprise at the end of this painting. I didn’t notice the way James had designed the lighting on Prince’s face until I had completed this and stepped back. Then it was very clear. The other fun fact about this painting is that I did not paint this standing up with a three foot extension brush as I do most of paintings. This was painting was rotated on a movie apple box until it’s last stroke.
Fun Fact: Prince was designed while James was working on the television series, “Mind Hunter,” directed by David Fincher.
